MOGADISHU, Somalia -- A warship is shadowing a yacht with four Americans on board that was hijacked by Somali pirates, a pirate said Sunday, as the vessel was reported to be moving closer to the Somali coast.

Maybe they'll get lucky and it's a ROK warship. :evil2:

The ROK doesn't fool around with pirates, but the Russians don't fool around either.

Lots of ammo flies in the above video. No word as to whether the ship's pirates were
onboard the ship being destroyed.

Summary execution is warranted in the case of pirates captured at sea. Once the worlds navies execute enough of them the rest will get the idea that In death you can't participate in the bounties of your labor. Of course the bleeding heart libs of the world will never go along with that.

I bet 50 cents that this is a botched rescue mission. BTW, isn't a better place to sail other than east shore of Sumalya?

Has anyone noticed that since Disney put out their pirate movies there have been a lot more of these events happening? I think these are copycats who feel that pirating is the latest cool trend. Or, it could actually be some of the extras from the movies that just trying to tie themselves over on income 'til the next sequel. LOL

Seriously, this trend has got to get nipped in the bud. Hijacking is hijacking, and they need to deal with these thugs and crooks by any method necessary to deter their actions and future actions of those that want to pillage and plunder. With all the money that is made in the shipping industry, it would not take much of a bite out of their profits to place well trained tactical teams on some of the ships in pirate-prone waters and clean these joker's clocks when they try to board the ship. The $$ spent would be a far better payoff in the long run.

There is only one apparent issue with this strategy - it would work quickly and reliably.

A reasonable person looking at all the warships steaming around in empty waters while ships are regularly hijacked somewhere else would have to conclude that is apparently not the objective here. The world's nations seem intent on doing everything possible to only look like they're doing something about piracy while making the pirates much more capable and dangerous by the payment of multimillion dollar ransoms. It looks for all the world like they're actively avoiding an effective solution to the problem.

It's anyone's guess what the purpose of all this might be.

The news now is that tragically the negotiations failed and the pirates killed the four American hostages.

RIP.

Apparently an American warship was shadowing the sailboat. Two of the pirates were on board the war ship negotiating with the Navy when shooting was reported aboard the sailboat. The Seals then rushed the sailboat and found the four Americans dead or dieing. Killed two pirates and captured 17 other pirates on the sailboat. Two pirates had been previously killed, by persons unknown (other pirates?).

Paying ransoms which is often done in these cases, only encourages this sort of thing.

I can't imagine if I was rich and wanted to sail the world, I would sail anywhere near this place. It sort of like taking a tourist hike near the Iran/Iraq border.

US taxpayers will now get to provide free transportation for the 19 living pirates to the US. Pay their attorneys for a defense, and probably pay for their housing, education, meals, entertainment and medical care for the rest of their natural lives. If ever freed, they would of course demand political asylum and would of course then live in the US, write books, appear on talk shows and claim they were victims.

The nations of the world could stop this, they just choose not to. Forget floating around the ocean waiting for pirates to strike. We know where they live. Send a bomber to retaliate. Every time pirates attack an American vessel, we bomb one of their camps. We have chosen to reward their crimes by paying them to go away, so naturally they have become more brazen and violent. Remember that saying "there is great danger in the notion that evil can be reasoned with".
