Former Juvenile Court Judge Mark Ciavarella was convicted by a federal jury on 12 of 39 counts, including racketeering, for taking nearly $1 million to funnel thousands of kids into a privately run detention facility.
Ciavarella and a colleague had a reputation for giving extreme sentences for comparatively minor offenses. It was later determined they received almost $3 million in kickbacks so that they would send some 4,000 young offenders to a private juvenile facility run by associates of theirs.
Ciavarella, who still maintains that he is innocence, testified he viewed the money just as a finder's fee. He said he never took a dime for sending a juvenile anywhere. He remains free on bail awaiting sentencing.

Sending him to a facility run by his "associates" doesn't sound like much of a punishment.RoyGBiv wrote:The Judge should be incarcerated in the same facility he sent those kids to...
Send him to Chinese prison.

I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
