Hornady Pro 7 progressive press in DFW

Post by orionengnr »

Hornady Pro 7 five-stage progressive press--predecessor to the Projector and the current LNL press. Most parts from the newer press will retro-fit the older presses.

Price is $125 plus actual shipping.

I inherited this press from a friend who is no longer reloading. I gave it a cleaning, lube and check-out. It is in good, serviceable condition. The shell plate is for .45 acp/.308 Winchester/.30-06 Springfield, set up for large primers. I received this one with no primer tubes or blast shield. I started looking for those parts on reloading forums and eBay when I got this one (last August). Interestingly, most of the Pro 7 and Projector presses I have seen have been missing these parts (not sure why). So I bought a used primer tube (large primer) and made a blast shield from .500 OD steel tubing. It is not perfect; it will need a bit more tweaking, but it is a few steps ahead of buying one without the primer tubes. I recently found someone who says that he can supply these parts for $39 plus shipping. If you are interested, I will put you in touch with him.

I have photos, and will email them if you provide an email. Additionally, I found a parts list for this press, and can email you a pdf of it. I will answer any questions I can.

Bottom line, I have been loading on Dillon RL450/550 presses for about four years now and have the shell plates, powder funnels, etc., for the calibers I shoot. I recently picked up another used 550, so I am now set up with one for small primer and one for large primers. To invest a bunch of money for shell plates and parts for the Hornady platform to duplicate what I already have makes no sense for me, so this one will go.

This would be a great starter progressive press for someone starting to handload, or for someone who already has Hornady equipment and wants to expand.

Local viewing and sale is welcomed, or I will ship for actual cost. This press is also listed elsewhere and is subject to local sale.
