I don't know if these make any difference but I guess it doesn't hurt.

Maybe the anti's should read the newspapers.

The jihadi arrested in Lubbock might have decided to spray
the local campus with an AK instead of using a chemical IED.

The FBI in Dallas arrested a jihadi that wanted to blow up a
major downtown Dallas building. They gave him a Ford SUV that
was supposed to contain a bomb, he drove it to the tower, then
was shown how to detonate the "bomb". There was no bomb,
but he was arrested then.

Upon searching his residence they found a 9MM pistol. If the FBI
hadn't found this guy and provided him with a "bomb", it's just as
likely that he could have taken that 9 and gone on a rampage
somewhere.

Majority of people who live in Lubbock probably aren't anti-gun, just the half of the population made of temporary residents/Students from other places might be.

Up to 62% now.
I am a 1968 Grad of Monterey High School there.
I have a Granddaughter that is accepted to Teck & will be there in August.
We still have family in Lubbock so I want to be armed when we visit her.

It is not all about "18 -20 ry old student children" :banghead: :smilelol5: getting mad about grades.

It is also about Parents & Grandparents being able to defend themselves if another jehied (sp) fool dcides to build another bomb.

Is instructor "Jon Wise" in this forum? I'd like him to explain his comments in the first of the two related articles. His quote:

"Am I comfortable knowing that three or four people in a crowded classroom are armed? I'm not excited about that," says Wise.

Mr. Wise, are you comfortable with 3 or 4 armed people in a crowded movie theater, crowded convenience store or crowded pizza joint? What's the difference? Why are you licensing people to do this if you "aren't comfortable" with it?

What is the problem? You don't like a) crowds b) classrooms c) armed people d) 3 or 4 armed people together ?

What is your point sir? Why are you a CHL instructor?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but, I don't think Jon Wise is a CHL instructor.

[quote:"He teaches a different class once a month to help participants be more aware of their actions and the law. But these short classes can only do so much."]

Anyway, there's so much wrong, misinformation, in the article I'm surprised it was even considered for the news media.
What ever happened to "fact checking" in journalism?

Jon Wise scares me

Edit: Went back and read it again: I'm wondering if Jon Wise really is a Tx CHL instructor, when he took the class? I was in one of the last
classes to enjoy the fine St Michael's facilities  , and at that time, the minimum class room hours required for a CHL were 10 with a 50 round timed shooting test.

[quote:""It's going to take more than this eight-hour class to prepare yourself mentally, physically, prepare for the adrenaline, I really don't know if you can totally prepare yourself for that," says Wise.]

I have read comments from CHL instructors and pretend 2A supporters in the gun community voice their concerns about "everybody" carrying since before CHL was law. So, it wouldn't surprise me if he was an instructor. It's fine for them but not for "everybody". Jim Crow attitude in my opinion. Shape the law so that only the select have any rights.

Here's what I have researched. The page linked to in the second article (Article still up but the linked to page is gone) listed a "Joe Wise" where the article refers to a "Jon Wise". A Search on SPC's website indicates a Joe Wise in their Law Enforcement department. Going out on a Limb I'm gonna say that he may be an instructor, but may have an instruct that he sets up classes for. If he is an instructor then the DPS may want to audit his class to ensure that it is up to standards...

Interesting enough the links from 34 to the CHL class and searches on the SPC site for the site are down now.

For what it is worth.

70% for
30% against

3/1/11 9:00 p.m.

Although I think they worded the question wrong...since we can already carry on the campus. I assume their intention was in buildings and classrooms.

well at least they worded it more accurately than some of the other polls i've seen. the Lubbock poll clearly stated licensed carry. other polls just asked if you would support a law that would allow students to carry guns into classrooms.
