And now what...

Post by Beiruty »

This is not fair for the PD LEO.
LEO actions seems justified when the driver refuse to get arrested, roll up a window, trap officer arm and takes off and the LEO is hanging there on side of an SUV. Shots are fired, driver is dead, LEO is injured.
Why, every one is crying "injustice"?

Based solely on the article, I would have to heartily agree with you.

As is most always the case, we, the readers have only the info presented to us from one side.. or at least one writer.

I see a man who was attacked with a many thousand pound weapon, and was forced to use deadly force to stop the threat.
Having done so myself.. I understand the mental position one is in when faced with that choice..

There may be more info at some point that changes my mind, but from what has been presented thus far... Good job unnamed officer, I'd say sleep well.... But I doubt you can.

The issues you speak of may go beyond the number of wives...

Because the MSM is primarily composed of collectivists and wants you to feel sorry for criminals. Essentially, it serves their agenda by promoting the general notion that the difference between criminals and you and I is that you and I have had various advantages conferred by our unjust society. Criminals are just victims of society, and we'd be like them and they'd be like us if our situations were reversed. The presence of the children make this a "there but by the grace of God go I" story. It would be harder to sympathize and see yourself in this situation if he was riding around with a bunch of gang-bangers. But people who aren't criminally inclined can imagine themselves in their car with their children and think, "oh my, this could have been me" --and that is the purpose of the article.

They want you to believe this guy is father of the year because it serves their agenda. But in an incident like Erik Scott's killing, where he did nothing to deserve getting shot except carry a licensed gun, they want you to believe the opposite. They don't tell you in that case what a great guy he was, they tell you he must of been on drugs and was acting like a nut case, because: 1) he had all the advantages --West Point grad, Duke MBA, successful father, etc.-- and was not eligible for liberal victim status; and 2) they want to convey the impression that anyone who carries a concealed handgun is a nut job.

I'm "pro choice" in this type situation.

Any time a person makes a "choice" to assault a Peace Officer with a deadly weapon, they should be allowed to enjoy the likely result of that "choice" (Basically the guy got what he asked for....reaped what he sewed and all that.) It was his individual choice to obtain the consequences of his actions he chose to perform.

"They're just saying, if I stuck my arm inside of a car, and a guy sped off, I'm going to try to protect myself," Shaheed said.
Um... Yes? As opposed to what? Letting the officer allow himself to be dragged to the highway at ever increasing speeds?

I can't tell anything from the video; but I think it's unlikely the officer shot the driver in front of four witness and is lying about what happened. And apparently it convinced some of the protesters. However I don't think the latest story helps the police when they claim the driver was suspected of transporting drugs but they haven't searched the vehicle yet. That tactic stinks: it should go, he was suspected and stopped, but when we later searched the vehicle there were no drugs; or he was suspected and stopped and when we searched the vehicle we found drugs, one of the two --not that he was suspected and stopped but we haven't even looked for any drugs yet.

He was arrested because there was arrest warrant issued for him. That is enough.

He was arrested because there was arrest warrant issued for him. That is enough.
Edited for clarity

I'm not questioning the basis of the stop or the basis for arrest. I'm not questioning the shooting either: I think it was completely justified. In the second link you provided the video said he was stopped because he was under surveillance and suspected of carrying drugs. Fine. I waited to to hear if they found drugs or not. At the end of the clip they said they hadn't searched the vehicle yet. Maybe there's a good reason for that, though it seems that since the media and professional agitators are trying to stir up the community they'd want to immediately determine if he had drugs or not.
