Reagan shooting audio declassified after 30 years
The Secret Service has declassified audio recordings of radio conversations, nearly 30 years after John Hinckley Jr shot President Reagan and three other people on March 30, 1981.

It took Secret Service personnel more than one minute to realize that Reagan was actually shot and injured.
It may be worth noting that Hinckley fired six shots in less than two seconds from a cheap .22 revolver and injured four people, leaving Press Secretary Jim Brady permanently disabled. Hinckley was brought down by Alfred Antenucci, a 68-year-old union official who was there to see Reagan.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

I was 9 at the time.. still remeber it well

According to the transcript, the Secret Service agents did not know that the President was hit. I remember reading a book where Reagan stated that the agents shoved him into the car and laid on top of him, crushing him. He was yelling for them to get off. At first he thought the pain in his chest was a result of his burly agents laying on top of him.

This is a further illustration that people do not immediately notice when they are shot.
Historical accounts of the incident say that Secret Service personnel did not realize that Reagan was injured until blood started coming out his mouth. Reagan took a ricochet in the lung.
I've also seen there is a bizarre conspiracy theory that someone in the Secret Service shot Reagan (which I think makes sense only to someone who is off his meds).

I didn't know about the "Devastator" exploding bullets, or maybe I just forgot about them.

I also forgot or never knew. I had a lot on my mind in early 1981.
These were .22 rounds with a primer embedded in the bullet itself. The rounds that struck Jim Brady in the head and the window of the president's limousine may have exploded as intended. The latter harmed no one.

I can't find much information on them, but they are probably now illegal.seamusTX wrote:I also forgot or never knew. I had a lot on my mind in early 1981.

Re: Reagan shooting audio declassified after 30 years
found this funny tidbit at defensivecarry.com they were talking about the type of round
Probably something like the XRBR...
Xtreme Rabid Badger Rounds signal a paradigm shift in home defense and anti-terrorism ammunition. Utilizing the same state of the art technology that puts foam dinosaurs in those plastic capsules that dissolve in hot water, I've been able to enhance what would be otherwise boring hollowpoint ammunition with a rabid badger core. The exact process is like, totally secret and proprietary.
Upon striking the body of your target, a rabid badger is unleashed through a process that involves a lot of really hard to understand math and physics calculations, and possibly some magic. The resulting stopping power goes beyond devastating, and is actually completely unable to be measured. In every ballistic test conducted, the badger ate the gelatin block, and then quickly turned on the testers.
My cores use very expensive laboratory grade badgers that are 99.9% pure, and 100% insane with rabies.
The shock of a rabid badger bursting from a teammate's body and then going totally nuts adds a psychological warfare element unmatched by any other ammunition maker in the industry today. To further enhance this, I took a cue from the A-10 Warthog, and painted a scary face on each and every round.
Already in use by Elite Team Fighting and many other highly trained special operations forces around the world, XRBR rounds represent the zenith in small arms ammunition technology. Get yours today!

Now make that in a 380 round and it might finally get some respect. :D
