Is this the room where we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the plastic.?
Just checked with USPS. Paperwork was dropped off at Post office yesterday around noon. Checked today and the status stated delivered. I believe that is faster than overnighting with FedEx.

Welcome to the forum.
It only seems like forever while you're waiting.

It only seems like forever while you're waiting.

that's not fair. mine took two days to get there
now, pull up a chair, or declare a nice spot on the wall to bang your head against in anticipation
, and join the rest of us waiting. i'm doing a good job filling time by breaking in the iwb holster i bought and getting used to wearing it in general, and practising methods of drawing from concealment, which really doesn't help with the anxiety, but it's fun anyways. happy pacing, i mean waiting.

Re: Waiting takes forever
Waiting is the hardest part. Patience grass hopper. Not like I had any two months ago when I was waiting but you should try to have some.

Re: Waiting takes forever
I've been told that patience is gained through maturity, but that doesn't make any sense.
Because the more you mature, the less time you have to be patient.

While you are killing time, you can read through the pistol licensing procedures for Nassau County, New York, on Long Island. http://www.police.co.nassau.ny.us/pisto ... _tandh.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As I've noted in other posts, this must have one of the most gun-unfriendly political and law enforcement regimes in the country. Take note of the four character references required (and they each have to fill out a form and mail it in) (also note that none of the references can be an active LEO. ?!?). $200 for license, $94.25 for fingerprints (Separate money orders, both to the NCPD). If you had a traffic ticket in last five years, then you must also get an abstract of your driving record from the NY DMV. List all arrests, whether dropped, thrown out, sealed, or whatever, then provide certified court documents, then also a notarized statement by you detailing what it was all about. Also provide NY driver's license, birth certificate, proof of Nassau County residency. Fill out all the forms (including the mental health check form that will be sent to the NY state agency), go to the police station and have them checked for completeness and accuracy. Then be given an interview appointment to go back to the police station again to be interviewed and fingerprinted.
Also note statement on the website:
"Pistol Licenses will be processed as quickly as possible. Present waiting time is 6 months. We will send you notice as soon as your license is ready. PLEASE DO NOT CALL "
When (or if) you get your license, then pay $10 for another license that actually allows you to buy a gun. Take the gun back to the police station to have them record it on your license. (There will be a magazine inspection to make sure you can't load too many bullets).
Then, when you are all done, you have permission from the State of New York and the County of Nassau to take your gun from your house to the range (or to hunting) and back again. What, you thought this was for a CHL type license? Nope, just a target and hunting license. You wanna carry, you gotta show "good cause" as determined by the police department. (Be sure to bring receipts for your political donations to the right office holders).
Also, NO stops for gas, food, buying ammo or whatever. Interestingly, you can have one loaded gun in the car during this trip, presumably to protect your gun(s) from any criminals that might want to waylay you. Note that you can carry a loaded gun to protect the gun, but you cannot carry a loaded gun to protect yourself.
Oh btw, your completed application is a Public Record.

Criminals are smarter and disregard the law. If the process is so frustrating and complex, it is an effective ban on firearms ownership. I thought the restriction should be a common sense, far from being the case in real life.

Welcome to the forum!
Waiting is hard! I was lucky my wait was relatively short, but it seemed like forever! I really cannot imagine how hard it is to wait 60 days or more. Remember the old saying about the longer the wait, the more the value.

Just another reason I would never live in New York. Well, I'd never visit there either, the same goes for Las Vegas and L.A. I wonder if Mrs. Pantsuit was involved in that process.
