Please take the Cleveland, Texas, story to its own thread.
It is a horrible story, but I have trouble seeing how it could be discussed within the forum rules.

Make no deals. No appeals. Listen to their squeals. (Sorry, just had a rhyming moment.)
With cases like this, where the evidence is so overwhelming against these people, have a fast trial. Then, once they're sentenced, take them out in front of the courthouse and have them face the worst punishment possible. Then leave their carcasses for stray dogs.

Re: FL: The scum of the earth
I don't think it's anything new.
It's a combination of disintegrated families, irresponsible parents, drug addiction and alcoholism of course.
With modern forensics many of the cases that would have been considered "crib death" in the past (now called SIDS) are diagnosed as homicides.
Then the web amplifies everything. Twenty years ago we would never have heard of a child's death in another state unless it was horrendous.

Wow. I really hadn't thought about that. A quick WIKI search had an interesting statement about Risk Factors for SIDS:seamusTX wrote:With modern forensics many of the cases that would have been considered "crib death" in the past (now called SIDS) are diagnosed as homicides. - Jim
The SIDS.org has these suggestions for mothers-to-beThe frequency of SIDS appears to be a strong function of the infant's sex, age and ethnicity, and the education and socio-economic-status of the infant's parents.
Do not smoke, use cocaine, or use heroin. Tobacco, cocaine, or heroin use during pregnancy increases the infant's risk for SIDS.
Don’t get pregnant during the teenage years. If you are a teen and already have one infant, take extreme caution not to become pregnant again. The SIDS rate decreases for babies born to older mothers. It is highest for babies born to teenage mothers. The more babies a teen mother has, the greater at risk they are.
