Execution style shooting at McDonalds in California

Post by philip964 »

Lunch time McDonald's crowd in California got to watch an execution style shooting today. But wait, isn't it illegal to carry a loaded gun in California.

The posted link contained information that a "black beanie" was found at the scene of the shooting. I couldn't imagine any gang banger wearing a hat that could be described as a beanie. A quick Internet search turned up several other accounts of the shooting and one of them said that it was a black Washington National's baseball cap.

It was obviously a very targeted shooting. It is just fortunate that no bystanders were injured, too. Is it just me or more than 60% of the reported crimes drug or gang related?

[Officer]Garcia said it appeared there was not much interaction between the shooter and the victim before the shooter opened fire. He said the area did have its “fair share” of factions of the Norteño and Sureño gangs.
I can't vouch for the percentage, but you may be low in your estimate for this type of shooting. IMO, a public execution like this shows that they were trying to send a message.

FWIW, this McDonald's is literally across the street from the Santa Clara County Medical Center which is the area's largest trauma center for gunshot, stabbing and burn victims.

:eek6 If those folk in Kalifornia can't act any better than that, they shouldn't be allowed to have guns.

Mine was intended to be a more universal percentage and not just about execution style murders. I figure 100% of those are gang or drug related. Every time I turn on the evening news here, there seems to be some sort of drug related violence.

I wish we could find some way to deal with the underlying cause.

This just in - The man shot at the San Jose, CA McDonald's, who police identified as Ruben Cortez Jr., 18, has died from his injuries. Sgt. Jason Dwyer said Cortez who was shot "in the upper torso area" was pronounced dead Wednesday. Although police did not publicly confirm this, some witnesses said they saw the victim after the shooting with an apparent head wound.

I am willing to bet they never catch the killer. I really believe when they tag the crime "gang related" the police tend to feel less pressure to solve the crime. Maybe I am wrong and just getting more skeptical as I age. "Gang related" means all the rest of us are still safe and secure. Just as long as we aren't in a gang.

To be honest, I feel better if I find out a shooting in our area was between two people who have a conflict with each other. It helps to support my feeling of "it won't happen to me" because I am not part of a gang or the conflict. Funny how all that works.

Unless they miss their intended target and you are collateral damage.

:iagree: I realize this happens and I would be willing to bet the police are more dedicated to catching the suspect when innocent by standers are killed.

I didn't realize the border had moved that far north. If this had happened south of San Diego it would have gotten a yawn :yawn
