Gas at $6 or $7?

Post by Beiruty »

What do you do if the Gal of Gas is at $6, $7 or $10. This scenario is possible if Israel hit Iran Nuke facilities and Iran responded and sank couple tankers and blocked the straight. That would be really really bad for US and world economy. :bigmouth

Open up a bicycle shop?

Unfortunately, I don't have any money to invest unless I sell one of my guns. I think I'll stay poor for the time being.

Of course high oil prices would affect the prices of other things too (such as food which has been brought up a lot). One could also start a farmer's market if there isn't one in your area already.

The same thing that happened when gas hit $5 last time - people will only drive when they absolutely have to which will cut consumption in half and force prices back down.

Personally, I might buy the conversion kit and feed my diesel truck veggie oil.

I can (and do) get my job done from home. My wife works at a hospital and drives a diesel Jetta that gets 41mpg in the highway.

Sure, I'll grumble, but I'm sitting prettier than most folks.

If Iran tries to block the straight or Suez, it would result in a brief and spectacular light show.

Well... that is unless our President is too busy playing golf or visiting Mr. Chavez with his kids for Spring Break. :grumble

I have tried to cut back my driving as much as possible. I am mostly a motorcycle guy, but I am trying to limit everything. If gas goes to $6, I will convert my Bronco to natural gas. I have looked into it, and it is about $5000 for the conversion. There is a natural gas station about 4 miles from my house, so I could do it, and just may. Once we go over $5, all bets are off.

I live close to work, but drive a 3/4 ton PU. Even at today's prices I am better off eating out every day then spending the gas $$ to go home for lunch. I tend to ride my MC much more when gas goes up.

I tried that "eating out is cheaper" logic on my wife. She started packing my lunch.
