He's a politician. He (or his staff, not sure how much has he has in anything he does) feels it will help smooth over his "calling the cops stupid" comment. Plus, it's a chance for more publicity, and since the media fawns over him, good publicity this time over something he's gotten some negative attention for.Russell wrote:.. and now he's calling them both in for a beer to "discuss the matter".

This is no different from any other political grandstanding ever done in history. It's not his place, he's got other things to do, but it makes him look good, doesn't require much effort, and gets some press.
On the other hand, maybe we should be glad he's wasting time with stuff like this instead of proposing more spending, for once.








 While there is obvious irony in how liberals tout themselves as tolerant and yet always seem to be the ones shouting down or stifling opposing expressions, it's not really good to point that out because liberals are also easily offended.
