Bloomberg scolds nation for not standing up to gun lobby

Any study that Houston ranked below Reading, PA has got something wrong with it. Reading is not the greatest place but it is like heaven (from a crime standpoint) compared to Houston. It would be interesting to see what criteria was used to create the ranking.

NJ certainly has its share of cities on the list. That isn't at all surprising. The things that make Newark and Camden bad are not isolated to those two areas. Of course, when you get down state, near the Delaware border, it is like a completely different place. We have really good friends who live in NJ and are happy about it. High taxes, high crime, lots of corruption - what's not to love?

I'd be willing to bet you a competition level Kimber that Mayor Bloomburg isn't going to give up his guns either so Bald Eagle was safe in making that statement. The good Mayor seems to be able to get elected but is certainly not without his detractors in his city. Many up there hate him for being the Elitist that he is. His security detail is required.

The important part of Bald Eagle's offer is to put Mayor Bloomburg and the rest of us on a level playing field. It is OK for him to protect himself but the rest of us can just go take our chances? I don't think so. It is the same problem that I had with the Texas Legislators passing a bill that would allow them to carry in places where we cannot. I'm all for the expansion of places to carry and I can somewhat buy the argument that doing that for some first opens the door for the rest of us later....except that "later" never seems to come on most such topics. My opinion is that the more we allow our government officials to act like Elitists unchallenged, the more they are going to do it. I'm all for calling them on it every time.

It might depend on what is considered Houston. The city limits of Houston includes a lot of low crime areas. as well as some well defined high crime areas. Clear lake, River Oaks, and Kingwood are all a part of Houston. Houston is a whole lot more than the 5th ward.

After all is said, I feel safer in Houston with the ability to arm my self, Than I ever will in New Jersey where even fully legal ownership can get you convicted. I believ recent events have proven that the Jesey Law enforcement and (in)justem system is more dangerous than the protected mafia.

Oh, I assumed as much. Geographical location and keywords in the article probably have something to do with it as well. I just thought it was pretty funny to have those ads next to that article, regardless of how they got there.
