Jury Duty
I just got off a jury for a Capital Murder Trial in Harris County. (no death penalty in this case) It seems I always get picked. We had 75 potential jurers in the pool and I was number 41. Oh well, I don't really mind doing my civic duty. Anyway....this is always an eye opener. I live in a very sheltered world where, for the most part, people have respect for human life. The defendant is a very scary man. He brutally killed and has zero remorse. A 14 year old boy testified for the defendant and he laughed when talking about the victim. The court reporter admonished him for talking too fast and the boy gave her a death stare that was chilling. This is a different culture that will kill you for absolutely no reason. Be careful out there, carry always, and be very aware of your surroundings. Oh yea, we found him guilty and the sentence was automatically life, no parole.

Re: Jury Duty
did the officer escorting the group ask if anyone had a chl before they let you into the court house? i had this happen to me once and i was quite confused by the question.
Re: Jury Duty
This is the Harris County Courthouse in downtown Houston. Besides the fact that it is already illegal to carry in a courthouse, there is a BIG 30:06 sign at the security checkpoint. The jury room where you initially gather before being sent back to the individual courts is not posted. The clerk there tells everyone to "take your gun back to your car before you leave this room". The Baliff in the courtroom never said anything to us except the required legal stuff.

Re: Jury Duty
well I had jury duty for harris county downtown about 5 years ago. The officer asked if anyone was carrying a gun. no one said anything. then he asked if anyone had a chl.he said anyone with a chl would have additional security screening. i found this interesting.but i didnt have mine at the time. the next time i had jury duty downtown they didnt say anything about weapons or chl.
