Some would say an eternity. ;-)

Patience.
Its a virtue.

Practice NOT checking the DPS website so often.

Well, when I sent an email about mine, I was given the background check answer too. That was Nov. 20th. On the 4th of Dec. I inquired again and was told that everything should be done within the next week or two. That day, Marshal gave me similar advice as above. I didn't take it  and checked two days later, and sure enough. It had changed to "license issued".
My whole issue was longer than most because another student had the same cert# as me so that had to be sorted out. But all in all:
Packet sent: 09/25
PIN received: 11/20
Plastic in hand: 12/07
Grand total: 103 days (wow that was a long time  )

Good luck!!! Best advice is to practice and carry around the house. It really is best to try to forget about it and let it be a huge surprise when it shows up in the mail one day. :woohoo

I believe it is worth contacting the DPS, it puts your name and application in the mind of the person handling your application. I had several contacts and it was always with the same individual, and I kept everything polite and non confrontational.......they treated me so nice I always hung up with smile
