I make a point that anytime I see one I walk up and say thank you.

They appreciate the thank you too. I also do the same for our military if they are in uniform.

...I'm not able to do that for cops...I do it occasionally for servicemen, though...cops I just do like Skaven does...that means a lot to them...you'd be surprised at how many don't get a kind word all day...they appreciate sincere concern and attaboys...

Most of them are really humble as well. It is like it almost makes them uncomfortable because someone is coming up with praise as opposed to what they are normally used to dealing with.

My wife and I do this. We never tell them who it's from though. Usually we leave before they find out anyway.

One of the fire station is about a mile from us. They have picked me up several times in the ambulance and have been here to put out a small fire once.
About once ever two months and every holiday my wife fixes them a meal including pies and cakes and we deliver it to them. They are very gracious people.

Every time I see my baby girl, I tell her thank you and to be safe.

And I ALWAYS buy her a nice dinner.

I try to thank them each time I run by one. I run marathons, half marathons, 10k, and 5k, and they are usually the ones stopping traffic so I don't get run over.

:clapping: Good one.

I wave at my patrolling constables every day during my hike, but a "thank you" is reserved for when it is only a warning ticket for speeding.
