375 Pound Shark Jumps into Fishing Boat

Post by WildBill »

Jason Kresse and two crewmen were fishing for red snapper, 50 miles into the Gulf of Mexico. Kresse says fish guts were dumped into the water and the eight foot long, 375 pound Mako shark apparently went into a frenzy, launching itself into the 25-foot boat.

A forklift was used to unload the shark Monday when the boat docked in Freeport.

Wow, I bet that was a tense situation.

I caught an alligator gar when I was a kid (just happy to catch a fish), it came off the hook and fell in to the boat, I then see what I thought was an "real" alligator. I grabbed the paddle an started to beat it before I realized it was a fish.

We had to go fish elsewhere after my "episode".

Reminds me of a story from my childhood of a buddy who took some friends with their 22-rifles up the creek in a flat bottom boat to shoot turtles. When they passed under a low tree, a snake fell in the boat. 20 shots later, the snake was dispatched, after which the boat sank.....

Cue the spooky music from Jaws. It's a trend.

In the Florida Keys last week (reported today), an eagle ray (fish) launched itself out of the water and landed on top of a woman who was in a tour boat photographing the animals.

The ray was estimated to be 8 feet wide and weigh 300 pounds.

The woman was unhurt. No report about the condition of the ray.
