Congressman Conaway; With the events or lack thereof today concerning the budget impasse, Shutting down the government. I wanted to personally pass on to you my disappointment and lack of faith for the congressional leadership is at an all new high point.
For me and a few hundred thousand of my fellow Soldiers, the utter failure of you and your fellow congressman resulting in partial pay we will receive is just a very personal and visual pointer to the lack of leadership on capital hill.
You and your fellow congressmen did 1/2 the job, failed at your tasked duties, yet you will receive full compensation for your failure. While hundreds of thousands of Military Servicemen, who congress and the president send in to harm’s way will go without.
It is a travesty the same people who take pay for a job not done are the same one who write Bills and sign them in to law.
Otherwise I'd propose a new Bill introduced and signed into law.
In any fiscal year, where congress and the president are unable to work to, compromise for, and sign a new budget into law for the coming fiscal year. All sitting congressional leaders and the President will forfeit their position at the conclusion of the current fiscal year.
Additionally, as an amendment (we know how congress likes there amendments) Any congressional leader or president (vice president) convicted of a federal crime shall forfeit all pay and allowances, as well as retirement benefits retroactive to the date the crime was committed.
I realize this bill will never come to be written.. I realize you solely are not responsible for this failure. But sir, I do personally hold you, my congressional representative responsible.
Sincerely
SGM Erik John Marquez

I would lose faith too, if I had any faith remaining.I wanted to personally pass on to you my disappointment and lack of faith for the congressional leadership is at an all new high point.
88 day wait for the state to approve my constitutional right to bear arms...

I don't mind a shutdown so much. It's when they start back up (and pay civil servants who did no work) that burns my biscuit.

When in doubt
Vote them out!

What some of them don't understand is the military cannot quit with their work.

Here is a little information you probably didn’t know. Those that have a job designation of “critical” would have to work not knowing when or if they would get paid.tacticool wrote:I don't mind a shutdown so much. Had the government shut down, all leave would have been cancelled including sick leave. Those people on paid sick leave they had accumulated would not have been paid.
I personally would like to see a law that if the government is shut down, congress receives no pay, or expenses for that time.
God Bless America, and please hurry.
