Pretty much the best deal on the net for a Colt rifle.

I believe this price is good for all citizens.

I also see that CDNN has a Canadian Manufactured Colt AR15-A2 (permanent carry handle) for $769!!!

It has the 16" pencil barrel and although used, it's in excellent condition.

I saw that too. What's the scoop on the Canadian Mfg. Colts? Good? Bad? Can't tell?

Its a Colt. There won't be a problem with it... but keep in mind it's an A2 upper.

I know what "upper" means, but I am not familiar with the "A2" bit.

A1 Upper has a permanently attached carry handle. Commonly referred to as the Viet Nam era AR15. This upper has windage adjustments only. Elevation is adjusted from the front sight post.:

A2 Upper has a permanently attached carry handle. This is a standard for some military today. This upper has windage and elevation adjustments. Elevation CAN be adjusted from front sight post too.:

A3/A4 Uppers are removable carry handles, commonly referred to as "flat tops." These are the most common today. Removable carry handles resemble an A2 upper but allow removal for better position of optics. Again, elevation and windage can be adjusted from the upper, and elevation can be adjusted at the front sight post.

The Colt 6920 for $995 from GT Distributors is A3 style with a removable carry handle included.

The Canadian Colt from CDNN for $769 is A2 style. Still an awesome deal if you don't mind it. Optics can still be installed but it's a bit more [awkward, in my opinion] compared to the A3 style. See comparison here: http://www.gunaccessories.com/AR15/AR15scopemounts.asp

Not difficult at all, with the right optics. ;-)

I knew I was gonna catch flak for that... I almost edited it to 'awkward' but I didn't. Thanks, Paw. lol
