New CHL in the ranks...
I'm watching TV in the back room at about 10:30 last night and I hear someone opening my front door. My dog is on the couch next to me, and he alerts, but right away I hear a familiar voice saying "Hello!" and my son and one of his friends appears in the kitchen coming toward me. So I relax, but I'm wondering why my son has come over so late at night.
The Annoyed Boy has his Kimber Pro Raptor in his hand and two full magazines. He sets them down on my coffee table, whips out his wallet and shows me his brand new still shiny plastic, and says "Where's my holster!?"
I had bought him a used MTAC for a 4" 1911 from USA1 at the last forum day at PSC, and it was sitting on top of my son's safe waiting for the day when his plastic arrived. My gift to both him and his fiancé for Christmas was their CHL class. Her plastic is still pending as she had to provide DPS some additional information, which delayed the process somewhat; but my son's arrived in yesterday's mail.
I'm not sure exactly what date they sent their paperwork in, but I know it was in February, so it looks like the total time was somewhere around 60 days. I'll find out from him today and post the actual time it took.
I hope he registers here as "The Annoyed Boy" just because I have fun with the "Annoyed" thing and I've been calling him that here for a while now, but he's a man and not a boy, and I'll just be happy if he joins... whatever user name he chooses. Many of you have already met him, at either DPC, the last Elm Fork forum day, or at skeet shooting days.
Anyway, he proudly got strapped, walked to our bedroom where my wife had just gone to bed, proudly displayed his plastic to her, and then he and his friend left to go see a late movie. I've always been proud of him, but this morning I'm especially proud that he has joined the ranks so early in his life and has chosen to express his 2nd Amendment rights.
Plus, he carries a 1911. What's not to like about that? I am a proud dad this morning.

There are few joys in life greater than watching you kids grow into adulthood. I feel your pride.
Please pass on our congratulation to him and his fiance'. I'm thinking that will be one of the best armed weddings in town. What is the phrase? "Something borrowed. Something blue"...maybe blued steel?

congrats TAM (and TAB).

May your licensed 1911 carrying SON never ask "Does this holster make my butt look fat?"
(He should join the forum now, just to respond to that ...)

Re: New CHL in the ranks...
By the way, my son's fiancé bought herself a carry pistol at the last Fort Worth gun show—a Kimber Pro Carry II—a decision arrived at after several trips to the range shooting all of our carry guns, from .38 revolvers to my wife's G19, to our 3" and 5" 1911s, to my M&P45.....even my Model 29.RPB wrote:congrats TAM (and TAB).

Congrats!
But what's with this "MovieSit" before a "WalkyWalk"?
Hopefully they visited Wallyworld before the movie to buy snacks; wouldn't want TAB to start off on the wrong foot (after all he's already behind the curve carrying old pistol technology)

Congrats. Your wife carries as well, correct? Once your DIL gets her plastic, according to the antis, none of you will be able to go anywhere together. The first threat that appears, you'd all get in a circle and shoot each other.
But seriously, that's very neat. My wife and I are going to the range soon for round 2 of "is this something we can do together", only with a .22 instead of a .45 (yeah, I was an idiot the first time we went).
New saying: A family that shoots together, stays together!
I love that your son's carrying a 1911 too. There's a few of us younger ones that like em.

We'll see. I'm going to tell him that his WW didn't happen if he didn't register here and post pictures of it.
It may be 100 year old technology (just last month), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Congrats to TAB and TAM!
TAM, if you help TAW, TAB and TAD with the wedding guest list, you would definately have the most well armed wedding in town! I know you can conceal in a tux, but a wedding dress? That may take some work...
