Interested in purchasing a WWII era 1911

Hey all! How has everyone been?

As you can tell I am wanting to buy a 1911 that was carried in WWII. I know it is crazy to think that there is one out there someone is willing to part with. However, in the off chance that one of you have one or know someone that has one and are wanting to or just thinking you want to get rid of it. Please let me know. I am military and I am wanting to start collecting guns from WWI and WWII and the 1911 is the only one that I want that I cannot find.

It's a worthy project, but I think you're headed into a pretty expensive acquisition. I still have my dad's 1911A1 which he carried in the later months of the war after having lost his personally owned Government model on Iwo Jima. I don't really care what the value is on the market. I attach a higher value than that, and I'm merely the holder of a family heirloom which will someday go to my son. It was manufactured by Ithaca in 1943.

Collector's firearms has an amazing selection of firearms, but their prices are definitely on the high end. I've been in there a few times to look at guns that I couldn't find anywhere else, but their prices tend to be about 20% over the going rate for what I have been looking at, so I have never actually bought anything there. Its a shame too, because they have some very knowledgable and friendly folks working there.

I think their prices are high, too. However, no one is making new antiques (legally, anyway). Someone wanting to buy that kind of merchandise is pretty much on his own.

I have bought from them. The ammo is competitive in price. I would love to sell one of my Colt Baby Dragoons for what they ask for their's, but I aint got the nerve ................,

Don't know if this is something that might be of interest to you or not. It's a Norwegian 1914 (Norway's licensed 1911) made in Norway during the German occupation in 1941. All the numbers match, and it's a very accurate pistol. With the historic value of it, I hesitated to fire it very often. Anyway, to make a long story short, I replaced it with a modern day Kimber, which gets a lot more range time, and have been thinking about selling it to someone who collects this kind of weaponry. Do you actually want to buy a 1911 that was really carried in WWll, or just one that was made in that time period? The only way that can be sure if it was carried is to buy it from the person who carried it, or their decendeants.

If you want a 1911 or 1911A1 from that period you should be able to find many there in Korea. We sold, gave, traded or whatever thousands of 1911's to Korea between 1945 and the end of the Korean War. They got the M1's and the carbines too.

If you are unable to locate one in Korea, Collector's Firearms has just about everything 1911. The only problem is what they charge for them. Singer's, Remington-Rand's, everything!
