Pace Bend Park

Post by XDM1322 »

First off I did search for this topic and found a old topic that was old and didn't clearly answer my question but..

I was going to go camping this weekend and pace bend and was wondering if anyone has carried there before seen a30.06 posted?

They have posted this statement on the website

"Weapons, Firearms, and Fireworks - No person shall possess or discharge weapons, firearms, or fireworks in any county park. "

But I wondering wondering if that applies to CHL holders too?

Thanks

It's state or county government owned? Then they can't post 30.06 to keep CHLs out. The exception I can think of would be if it's located on the shores of a COE body of water.

Pace Bend is LCRA property, (That means you can carry concealed, the type of handgun covered by your license, if licensed. All other guns are prohibited)

LCRA properties are fine for CHLs to carry since about 2007 .

It's why I kayak fish on Highland Lakes ... LCRA properties and haven't sold my house and moved to the coast (well, that and hurricanes and humidity).

Possession of Handgun by a CHL on LCRA Property • SB 535
“CHL coverage improvement” -- Bureaucrats cannot deny licensees

Section 62.081 of the Parks & Wildlife Code generally prohibits the possession or discharge of firearms on Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) property, with a few exceptions. Clarification was necessary to make it clear that the legal possession of a handgun by a CHL on LCRA property, and discharge of a handgun by a CHL for lawful self-defense purposes, is legal. Prior efforts to accomplish this with SB 501 in 2003 and subsequent administrative rules were not sufficient to restrain “the proper authorities.”
Passed 5/17/07, Effective date 9/1/07.

Firearms are prohibited for NON-Licensees

If you have a CHL, you may carry a gun of the type your license covers (not a rifle/shotgun but the type your license covers)

True they are "OPERATED BY" Travis County, which can not over rule State Law stating that you can carry.
The County is a subdivision of the State, and the State says you can carry on LCRA property.

NOTE:
Unless asked for ID by a Peace officer, DADT, just like any where else.

All LCRA Rangers are commissioned by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

The armed LCRA Security Guards are not

Armed security officers stationed at LCRA facilities support law enforcement and protection efforts of the Rangers.
Each security officer has a Level III Security Certification from the Texas Private Security Bureau.

So, present CHL to a Ranger, but no need to present ID to Security Guards really ... you may also encounter a Game Warden, who you would need to present ID/CHL to ... if asked.

Have fun, watch for snakes.
White Bass are active after dusk/dark, some still full of eggs.
Don't start an open fire if the burn ban is still on.
