Road Tripping

Post by Capt Jeff »

In the middle of a road trip through several western states - New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. Between my TX and FL CHL's got pretty much the whole trip covered. Had to unload and lock all the guns in the trunk before exiting AZ for CA and NV. Felt nearly naked out and about in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Got the chance to apply for a Nevada CHL while visiting. All paperwork turned in and I should have it back in about 6 weeks. Am now in Utah and am carrying again. :woohoo Back home sometime next week.

We're headed out for our summer job in Montana this coming Friday and will be able to carry every foot of the way. Will we open carry...no.

Like you, we put our 'irons' away when we did NW Kalifornia and the Oregon coast in '09. I didn't know there were so many people who looked like Charles Manson and Patricia Krenwinkle.

What is your summer job up there? Do you have any more job openings? What's the pay?

We're gonna' be Camp Hosts in a Montana State Park on Flathead Lake from Mid-May through Labor day. The minimal pay will cover our travel expenses (4,000 mile round trip) with a little 'walkin' round change' left over. We were up there in '09 as volunteer hosts...when diesel cost <$3.00/gal.

We met some really neat people. I never dreamed that cleanin' toilets could be so much fun. :smilelol5: OTOH, 40° at night and 75° in the daytime in August makes it worthwhile PLUS Montana folk are like Texas folk except that they talk different. Did I mention the scenery and that Glacier NP was 40 miles away...?

Although we can, will we OC...probably not.
