Update on my Mom

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Update on my Mom

Post by CodeJockey »

She was diagnosed with Lung Cancer back in February.

Well, just an update, she started hospice yesterday. The cancer has metastasized to her brain. She has 3 tumors there, and another one in her lung now. She's fading very quickly. She's 64 years old and can no longer get out of bed or a chair by herself. She was over 140lbs back in December and is down below 100 lbs now.

My dad isn't handling this well at all, and he is also dealing with advanced prostate cancer treatment for himself (radiation, the tumor wasn't operable). As if this wasn't enough, my Grandmother (mom's mom) just went to the hospital with a bad infection and dimensia. This is a lot to handle.

At least the hospice people are very nice.

Know there are prayers going up for you and yours. I firmly believe there is a special place in heaven for folks that work hospice.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Phillipians 4:7

You have my deepest sympathy. This is a lot to handle. I'm sure many will be here with prayers for you and your family. You and your Mom are fortunate you have caring hospice. My biggest joy in life is that when my daughter received her PhD, she was invited to be a Cancer researcher at MD Anderson in Houston. I wish I could have made the kind of difference in my life that I truly believe she will make in hers. Hang in there as best you can.

Your family is in our prayers. I can't imagine having to deal with all of that at one time.
