driving from ohio to dallas

Post by justherenow »

Instead of driving to Memphis to pick up my kids it look like I'm going to be driving to Dallas. I have my Ohio and Pennsylvania permits. Plan on carrying a glock 19 with two 15 round magazines.

Just curious what info I should be aware of in Texas and just for kicks where would be a good area on Dallas to stay? I'm on a budget since my trip went from 1200 miles round trip to 2400 miles.

The only thing you really need to know is the gun hast to stay concealed. I assume you have a CCW from Tennessee. If you're carrying the gun it has to be concealed so that a reasonable person could not tell you were carrying. You can carry it in your car weather you have a CCW permit or not as long as it stays concealed.

Am I missing something here?Ohio and Pennsylvania permits are issued by Tennessee? Or maybethe original post was misread. It just makes no sense to me.

If you are going in and out of Dallas, and are not looking to be downtown to play or visit for any length of time, I would suggest the hotels in Rockwall. Assuming that you are using I-30 of course. There is a nice Hilton on the lake, a LaQuinta and a Hampton, plus some cheaper ones further east on I-30. The Bass Pro is just the other side of the lake (west) from Rockwall. Plenty of restaurants and shopping - and you are outta the megamess when you decide to head back to Ohio or wherever you are going back to.

Thanks for the info. This is a turn and burn trip, no time for fun. I will get there early Friday, the ex who is driving up from College Station will bring the kids Friday evening and I will leave bright and early Saturday morning. I am finding the cheapest rooms in the Addison area so far.
