...the dealership stood up on their hind legs and made their opinion clear...so did our OP...there was no argument or conflict...just a mutual expression of ideas...which, of course, is not illegal for either party...this has been "whatif-ed" into a heated argument which did not occur...nothing about the FACTS supports the theory that the salesman might call the police and make up a bunch of lies...but don't let the FACTS spoil the fearful tangents...the OP couldn't have handled the encounter better if he'd had a new haircut and just shined his tennis shoes...this is the USA and especially Texas...where most of us aren't afraid to speak of our convictions...

Based on the OP, he knowingly, illegally walked into a building with a firearm, showed his pre-approved loan paperwork, was "begged" to come back inside, and told the manager that he was carrying a gun. That just isn't what I would want to explain to a judge or police officer. I'm sure you guys must know that I'm all about walking past signs, but I don't walk past signs and then announce that I'm carrying a gun.

If a person habitually announces their gun, eventually someone will freak and call the police. It could be a friendly conversation and the manager or bystanders might freak and call the police. This is not a far fetched "what if" scenario. That is why most of us keep the gun in our pockets a secret unless we need to use it. The conversation would have been just as effective if the OP just said that he couldn't trade with them because he had a concealed handgun license.

Did I miss where in the thread he said it was a 30.06, valid, sign?

Needless to say, the wife is not happy about these actions at all... She really loves the new Sonota. :boxing

This of course is the closest dealership to the house.
...embalmo, I guess in your zeal to prove how wrong he was you missed the above post...he didn't do ANYTHING ILLEGAL!!!...and if he'd "...said that he couldn't trade with them because he had a concealed hangun license..."you'd have most likely set off on the same series of what-if worries...the second-guessing's not stopped by choice of words, no matter how careful...so we just can't agree...I'm done arguing with you about it...

Yep-I read that post too, but by arguing that he couldn't go in because of the sign, he would then have to admit that he was aware of the business's "no gun" policy. Like I said-I'll happily walk past a non-compliant sign, but I can't think of a good reason to stir things up by announcing that I'm carrying past a non-compliant sign.

And he walked past the non-compliant sign to tell the manager that he couldn't walk past the non-compliant sign? For me, CHL is about legally carrying a firearm to protect me and my family, it's not telling people that I'm carrying a gun.

Me too. I avoid the businesses with anti-CHL signs and spend my money where they don't post any.
Fortunately there is only one type of anti-CHL sign in Texas.
The anti-CHL sign is posted at a lot of gunshows. If they're anti-CHL we shouldn't spend money there.

He could have done it from the outside without entering the building. You walk onto a lot and you'll have a salesperson on you quick. Ask for the mgr and all is done without entering a building.

That's what I thought at first, but he said that he "walked out" and the manager begged him to "come back in".

Also didn't say he was armed when he went in, could have dropped the gun in the console then entered to explain to the nice helpful salesman why he just missed a a commission check and points toward whatever contest the GM has running at the time after spending the time outside opening doors test drive etc...

Personally I try NEVER to go inside until I am sure, I will be able to get my deal on my vehicle. Just don't have the time to waste with the Sales Prevention Manager.
