Hey Carl, take my advice and get the 517.A65. It's the same sight, uses AA batteries, has the same reticle, etc., but the only difference is that the on/off/brightness buttons are on the left side of the sight instead of the back. That does two things: 1) it's easier to adjust the brightness while your eye is to the sight; and 2) it makes the buttons accessible when you have a magnifier mounted aft of the sight. See this picture below. Note that if the buttons were located on the back of the site, they would not be accessible without flipping the magnifier to the side:
