I was watching the funnel cloud that came by your place yesterday evening just about 8. It crossed the lake toward Little Elm and then dissipated. Pretty scary stuff! Luckily no major damage in Collin County except for a little straight line wind stuff about 10:30 last night in the southeast corner.Excaliber wrote:Sorry to hear about your car, Andy.
We had some nasty stuff come by us just south of Denton, but I didn't see any sizable hail or significant damage.

Unfortunately my home town in Missouri is in the bullseye today for nasty stuff. You know it's bad when Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel and all kinds of storm chasers show up in your town of 17,000 telling you to take cover hours before it even starts.

Some folks said the funnel cloud touched down briefly somewhere on our side of the lake before it dissipated, but I haven't heard of any significant damage.Keith B wrote:I was watching the funnel cloud that came by your place yesterday evening just about 8. I think there was a little damage in Corinth, but mainly fences, shingles and BBQ grills. No major damage that I am aware of.Excaliber wrote:Some folks said the funnel cloud touched down briefly somewhere on our side of the lake before it dissipated, but I haven't heard of any significant damage.Keith B wrote:I was watching the funnel cloud that came by your place yesterday evening just about 8. Tennis ball sized hail at my house near Cabela's Fort Worth. . . some dents to get out of the vehicle, but thankfully I don't think we're in "new roof" territory.

We had a funnel cloud go over the house and supposedly touch down about a mile east of us up here near Azle. Got out to check out the damage and some windows blown out and a gas station roof ripped off. Other than that golf ball sized hail, but seems everyone out this way faired pretty well.

Re: DFW tornadoes and hail...
Tornado sirens in Bedford most of the evening. Lot's of trees down. Our power is still at at 6PM today (24 hrs) with no estimate from Encore as to when it will be restored. It's just a two street area that affected, so i don't think we'll see restoration very soon. Everyone else around us never lost power. Trees down on power lines between both streets. I've lived in this house 15 years and we lose power several times a year in this same section, when everyone else has no issues. I've complained to TXU and Encore, but get little more than "we're sorry." I believe we have older equipment (transformers) on this line that are more susceptible to outages, but the power folks have all sorts of other excuses, none of which are very believable.

We are on the Haslet side of Cabela's. Baseball sized hail here. Significant damage. Power was out all night and some part of the day today. The car is already at the shop. Now, just waiting on someone to come give an estimate on the roof and skylight.fickman wrote:Tennis ball sized hail at my house near Cabela's Fort Worth. . . some dents to get out of the vehicle, but thankfully I don't think we're in "new roof" territory.
Re: DFW tornadoes and hail...
Sorry bout all of y'alls hail damage up there. I was in Abilene a month ago and my BRAND NEW CHEVY CRUZE got pummeled by softball sized hail. Not a pretty sight. Could be worse... prayers to the midwest.

Glad none of y'all were seriously hurt. My thoughts go out to y'all, and to the Midwest. Tragic weeks.

One hit within 3/4 mile from my house. Praise the Lord nobody had died.
