Re: Facebook Members !
You have the group's privacy set to open and the member list visible, which means it is archived by internet search engines like Google. That means anyone who joins the group or who subsequently posts on it will have his or her full name and picture as well as whatever is written on the group's page forever archived.
Would you consider making the group at least private and making the member list invisible? That would mean anyone could still join, but the postings won't be seen unless one joins. No google caching that way. And then if you set the member list to hidden, people may friend and follow it without their names showing up at all as long as they don't post.

One thing occurs to me though.... everybody I'm linked to on FB will now guess about my CHL. I might not want that.

That' why I didn't join...Even tough all my Facebook friends know I am a "gun nut", I don't need to advertise that I have my CHL.

Re: Facebook Members !
Another tip, if it is set to private, it will still show up on your personal profile's Info page as a group you belong to. If your profile isn't private (log out then go to your page to see what others can see) then that page saying you belong to the group will also be archived by search engines. You can either set your profile to private or the group can be made secret. If the group is made secret, it won't show up on profiles but won't be searchable or visible to non-members.
And I don't know if FB allows you to hide what groups you belong to from your friends, but I don't think they do. So if the group is private but not secret, I think your friends will still be able to see that you belong no matter what your privacy settings.

Plus your real name, the weapons you own, where you live, maybe a little info on when you are not home etc. Not a good plan. AND - I know everybody is to be respected - but two posts and created an open FB page for concealed carry...? Just for the record, Charles Cotton created one a while back too: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22350158120couzin wrote:Plus your real name, the weapons you own, where you live, maybe a little info on when you are not home etc. Not a good plan. Re: Facebook Members !
No thanks. My privacy is waaaay too important to me regarding CHL and guns I may own. After the 2012 elections the Obamaistas will have their designs on our gun rights big time. Don't need them tracking me down on Facebook. Yeah I know, then can track me down on this site to. Remember it takes one more supreme court justice and we are done.

Re: Facebook Members !
I don't advertise publicly my CHL status, so I won't join FB groups that would tip off others. It might not be much of a deal to younger folks who have grown up with the notion that every aspect of their lives should be broadcast to the world, but I'm not of that generation, so I'm out.
