As I've started teaching more and more classes, I've found myself constantly revising my presentations. It might just be because I'm from the internet generation, but I've found videos to be among the most useful means of really getting my points across. In my mind, using clips and footage removes the “theoretical” aspect and makes people really consider the issue.
The main videos I'm using for the gun safety presentation are :
1.The DEA agent that everyone has seen
2.The Las Vegas policewoman with her finger on the trigger
3.An Arabic wedding involving a child
4.A Russian Wedding involving Russian Roulette
5.A courthouse with prisoner as an officer reholsters
The main videos I'm using to analyze use of force decisions are
1.The OKC Jerome Ersland Pharmacy Shooting
2.A New Mexico CCW holder in a Walmart shooting when a woman is being stabbed by her ex
3.A Waco TX smoke shop robbery (in addition to the shooting, he does a interview afterward talking about how much he wanted to kill the guy).
4.An Ohio Hotel robbery with a CCW holder
5.An Agra India Jewelry Robbing (trouble racking slide)
6.A Turkish resort slashing robbery.
7.A Nashville store robbery of an Iraqi army veteran
I'm accumulated a pretty large number of additional videos, but those above are the ones that seem to get used in every class. I've also used the Joe Horn tape and the Florida School board shooting extensively as well.
What does everyone else think of video usage? Do you find them too distracting, occasionally helpful, or something else entirely? Does anyone use any other videos that they think are crucial to getting their points across? Should make some good food for thought.

Re: Which Videos do you use?
I like using videos as long as they do not take to long to show. Short and to the point. My big problem is finding stuff the state will approve. So many out threre with problems. I thought I found a good safety video, then noticed finger on trigger. Lot of "bad" good videos out there.
Are these videos approved by state or are you showing them at break time?
Later,
Art S.

Did you learn something new today and did you smile? if not, why?

Re: Which Videos do you use?
It was my understanding that "clips" didn't need to be approved. But that full videos did. So for example, the NRA video "Self Defense in the Home" would need to be approved (and is).
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."
Never Forget.
