Used my CHL as ID
So I went to a bar last night and used my CHL as ID. It wasn't intentional, just happened to be what I pulled out instead of the drivers license I was aiming for. The bouncer either didn't notice or didn't care and just checked the birthdate. (And of course no, I wasn't carrying).

Re: Used my CHL as ID
My understanding is that the CHL isn't "official" ID in texas, but that it was being taken up by the legislature this session. Not sure if that ever happened.

Well, it was official enough last night.
Re: Used my CHL as ID
The CHL was listed as a valid ID in the Voter ID bill that was passed this session. The DPS considers it a supporting ID when establishing identity for a drivers license or ID card. Other than that I don't know of any other laws that determine what is considered an "official" ID.jamisjockey wrote:My understanding is that the CHL isn't "official" ID in texas, but that it was being taken up by the legislature this session. I made the same mistake in Fort Worth once... the bouncer didn't bat an eye and I didn't notice 'til he handed it back to me.
