Lubricant might, or might not, provide a temporary relief for this feeding issue. The feed ramp polishing, if well done, will permanently minimize any friction related feed issues. For a carry pistol, I doubt that you want a temporary, iffy solution.

If you're doing it by hand you'll probably be okay. When polishing by hand you're going slow enough to not mess up too badly. Just remember you're trying to smooth out and polish whats there, not substantially change the angle of the surface.
I just know that if I tried to polish my feed ramp with a dremel, I'd probably crank up the rpms a little too high, turn it at the wrong angle and really mess things up.
