A&G grip extension for glock

Post by Vandelay Ind. »

Just received this part in the mail. it gives you a full size grip when using a glock 17/22 mag in a glock 26/27. I wonder if this company even has these guns.
its not even close to being a good fit. as soon as you grip the weapon the mag starts to move around making me think malfunction.

even without the mag, if you put the part up against the frame where its supposed to be it doesnt line up at all. i can probably do some sanding and make it work but
when i pay for something i expect better quality than this. :mad5

Does anyone else have experience with this part or others like it?

I got some of the A&G ones years ago, and some from another company I don't recall the name.

IIRC, I wasn't real pleased with the A&G ... the other company had more texture.
none will fit exactly up next to the frame ... if they did, the mag might not insert all the way/or be harder to insert.
I place mine closest to the baseplate
Do not overtighten any screw on those, it will affect feeding by bending the metal inside the mag..
I textured/stippled mine.
Also, putting as close to the baseplate instead of up at the frame prevents finger pinches.

Add one aren't ideal, but After it's on right, adjusted right/stippled etc .... I do use one of the other brand ones in daily carry on my Glock 26 so I can use a Glock 17 mag with a Pearce grip +3 extension so my Glock 26 has 21 rounds (20+1) and it functions well, and that sorta makes up for what it lacks in other ways.

If I run across the other brand. I'll post it, but the fit is the same, it's just very slightly more textured ... but I stippled all of mine later anyway. I totally understand your feelings right now .... that's the feelings I had when I got the A&G which prompted me to order the other brand .... but when I got them ... the only difference was texture.

You really want them closer to the baseplate, not jammed next to the frame .... if the screw slips, it makes it tough to insert into the magwell if it butts against the frame.... and the "jiggle/play in the mag can pinch finger skin if it's up at the frame. As I said overtightening the screw doesn't fix that potential slippage... it creates a mag you wouldn't trust. .... don't ask how I know  You want to slide it to the baseplate, then tighten the screw.

I am sure I bought every brand ... the absolute best baseplate is Pearce PG39 = +3 in 9mm +2 in .40
The hard plastic grip spacers are all about the same with minor differences in texture
Except there's a newer rubber grip spacer I have not tried.

I think the other was ProMag ... not a lot of difference though, but slightly more texture IIRC

Takes a while to get used to ... but I really like 21 rounds ready to go ... rather than a mag change during a firefight.

I assume you mean the spacer or sleeve rather than the mag extension/baseplate to increase capacity
Note that pushing it up to the frame can pinch your palm or finger ... they have it like I do, as close to the base plate as possible

I have the sleeve for g27 and ( I ) think if fits pretty good I use it on my g22 magazine I use it sometimes. But stated I also have a peace extensions ( pg-39 ) on most of my main carry magazines and prefer it.

yes i was referring to the sleeve. The one pictured is from glockstore and they dont say what brand it is so I dont know if its the same one i have. I got mine from topglock because shipping was cheaper than glockstore. Like i said, I can make the part work, I just expected better quality. With a little bit of work, you could make a better fit

Yeah, I know ... old thread resurrection ... but ...

Update

After trying every brand of mag spacer, I had some malfunctions with the 2 major branded hard plastic ones which use a set screw (Pro Mag and A&G) ... if you overtighten the screw is the problem, it deforms the metal in the Glock mag ever so slightly such that the first couple rounds feed, but the rest just are loose and fall out when you invert the mag/don't feed/spring impinged in the slightly deformed mag

So, I use the soft rubber mag spacers for carry
these were the AG 150 SOFT ones by A&G) and they work fantastic, more comfort and no set screw.

However, Cheaper than Dirt is out, no longer available, and a new company is now making soft rubber grips
Apparently, A&G stopped making the soft rubber ones that actually worked reliably ...and just make the hard plastic ones I do not like (less comfort, poorer fit, nor trust-finiky reliability

New Softer rubbery ones ... I might order
X-grip

http://x-grips.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If I find the old rubber ones, I'll stock up, but I might try the X-grips now

Sucks, the GOOD A&G rubber ones were like $8.00 for THREE; while X-grips are $12.00 EACH

Funny thing is, I have various brands of the 33 rounders, yesterday at the range, those were the only ones that malfunctioned. I do keep a couple around, as spare ammo holders to recharge "good" mags though, but I wouldn't rely on them except for range use.

I ordered an Xgrip for 17-> 26 and for 19-> 26 to try out

midwayusa has some decent ammo prices right now, but critical defense is backordered and gold dot #23614 (the low flash low recoil ) 115 grain only let me get 9 boxes and tried to backorder the 10th (prices are about $5-$7 a box cheaper than most I found on ammoengine.com ... looks like the prices are creeping up like gas does lately)

yeah, I waited till order confirmed before telling you guys ... sorry

Ha. Sarcasm... I wouldn't carry a 33 rounder. I am in the market for more G17 and G21 mags though. I want to have approx 6 mags for each.

On a side note, I need to go on a ammo-buying spree as well. We reload range stuff, so there is always plenty of that lying around. I also buy Speer Gold Dot for the G17. I use the 147 grain though.

If you are in Austin or Dallas, go by GTDist. I bought the last box of Speer GDHP 147 (50 round box) for $25 I think. They have really, really reasonable prices on duty ammo.

And I like that Midwayusa
rounds up to donate to the NRA

I'm out in the country, so I have to calculate what it costs to drive 120 miles round trip to buy ammo "locally" versus shipping UPS/FedEx costs.... comes out cheaper ordering it ... as long as we can still order online (watch post-Aurora shooting legislation attempts, even though the guy didn't USE the 6,000 rounds he bought online ... )

Ahhh. Makes sense. As expensive as carry ammo is, I have really been thinking about reloading the duty stuff as well. I just really do hate to mess with the science of it.

the rubber grip spacers I like. I got a magnifying glass, stamped into the rubbers is "midsouth guns & ammo"
I'm guessing "midsouth guns & ammo" made them, A&G distributed them ... "midsouth guns & ammo" seems to be out of business.

So, that's why no one has the "good ones ... 3 for 8 bucks" now is what I'm guessing

I'll see how the expensive rubbery ones work.

I have the X-Grips on 3 magazines (15 round magazine for my Glock 23). They look pretty good and feel pretty good. They weren't cheap though. I think I bought them at the Ft Worth gun show for $11 each.
