Great article regarding the pharmacy shootings in New York.

No, you don't, and that's precisely the objective of the left --to deny you the right of self-defense. Denying you the means of self-defense is just the first step. Just look at the UK.

by extension, if the government tells you you don't have the right of self defense....then they can have their way with you

So... I have some very close friends that live in NY... Long Island actually.
I spoke with them last night about this incident.... Rough transcript follows..

me: So what's the scuttlebutt on this up there?
them: It's so terrible, you can't go anywhere without worrying. That was a great neighborhood.
me: So, what do you think is the solution?
them: How can you "solve" crazy people?
me: If you were in that store, what would you have done?
them: What do you mean?
me: Close your eyes. Picture yourself in that store. Guy comes in. Is standing between you and the exit. Guy starts shooting. What do you do? Hide? Pray?
them: I guess I'd look for something to hit them with.
me: really? what would your mother or your kids be doing?
them: hiding I guess.
me: want to know what I'd be doing if that happened here in Texas or the 30+ other states where I can carry my gun legally?
them: what?
me: I'd be shooting back.

It's the same reason they want to take away our choices when it comes to heath care.

Interesting story but I disagree with not arguing 2A but instead argue right to life. The right to protect life uses the 2A when you don't focus on the 2A it becomes meaningless and easy to forget.

That has been a valid concern for as long as there has been a tendency toward class society. There are the "deserving" and "undeserving" citizens; the former must be protected while the latter have no right to anything, even life. This great nation, truth be told, has been in a mighty struggle to rise above all of the old evils; as one is vanquished, another arises. In every case, the question has had to be answered, "who is deserving?" Always before, the final answer was, "all of us!"

Kinda looks as if we're in it again.

(Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense -- I know, it's normal -- but I'm just thinking through this -- and learning this tablet in a UH snack room surrounded by dozens of wild music students!)

The rest of the conversation was along the lines of...
them: So you carry all the time, do you?
me: doesn't seem so "unnecessary" to you now does it?
;-)
