There is a group that wants to section off and call itself "South California," composed of San Bernardino, Kerr, Inyo, and Mono counties. It ain't going to go anywhere, since Los Angeles gets most of its water from the Owens valley (Kerr, Inyo, Mono counties), but it is funny that a huge chunk of the state where people live far closer to the land and the seasons have decided that they don't want to be regulated by the insanity in Sacto anymore.
Yeah, I saw that too. I don't think they're taking it far enough, though. Cali needs to be three states... If they split off the LA Basin and the SF Bay Area, those cities could be the liberal paradises, and the rest of the state could get its sanity back.
I don't remember if this was the Drudge link, but here is a story about it: http://www.domasjefferson.com/news/sout ... -the-north

Sir, I'm glad I got out last year, since my time working for Uncle Sam was at an end...especially now that Jerry B. is the Governor...he did SUCH a great job cleaning up Oakland, right? I feel bad for the folks in the "other" California: those not in the Bay and not in the Basin...they don't really get a lot of say.

I left California a couple of years ago. I miss a lot of things about the state, especially the Central Coast but the overriding thing I don't miss is the collective insanity that permeates the major population centers.
