Soccer is dangerous.
Back in the 70s when I was a young Jarhead, we used to play Soccer alot. We had to quit playing eventually. The Base Medical Officer went to our OIC and told us that he no longer wanted us playing organized Soccer as he was treating too many casualties as a result of it.
I think we called it "Jungle Soccer" back then.

Some fun facts for those of you doing this
at the idea of people enjoying soccer.
Twitter reported this morning that it broke the record for number of tweets about a single subject last night during the Womens World Cup final...over 7,000 new tweets about the world cup per second.
In addition, at least 700 MILLION people watched the last world cup final, with some estimates reaching towards a billion.
A whopping 100 million watched the "super" bowl, or 1/7 of that number.
An even more fun figure: 300 million people watched the group stage draw of the world cup. That's where some fat dude in a suit pulls names out of a fishbowl to determine what group world cup qualifiers are put into. That is merely 3x the number that watched the superbowl....and it wasn't even an actual game.
This would also beat the watching record for the super bowl and the world series combined.

But, I understand if some of yall just can't grasp the intricacies of the beautiful game. Yall stick to waching bowling, or baseball, or one of those slower, easier sports.

This is the same sport mind you where an octopus was "prediciting" the results of the World Cup and when said octopus picked Germany to lose, received numerous death threats.
An octopus.
OK confession time, I enjoy watching soccer on occasion and did watch a lot of Men's World Cup matches but the sport is too easy to pick on.

Let's one up that one. Ever heard of the Football War?SQLGeek wrote:This is the same sport mind you where an octopus was "prediciting" the results of the World Cup and when said octopus picked Germany to lose, received numerous death threats.
An octopus.
That's right. El Salvador and Honduras went to war over (among other things) the outcome of a tense qualifying match for the 1970 World Cup.

Yes, soccer fans are a little nuts. Granted, the ones that do really really stupid things are usually poor, ignorant fans who have other reasons for the things they do, with football as the excuse.
Most of the soccer fans on here are pretty sane, I'd reckon.

Unless they support Manchester United. Then....

How many US football pros do you think would be able to run almost flatout for 2 hours, with no commercial breaks, like both the US and Japanese girls did yesterday?
Not many, I would suspect.
Plus I have never seen an NFL referee to match the one at that final game.
