Selective Memory.....

Post by The Annoyed Man »

“Bottom line,” Fonda continues, “this has gone on far too long, this spreading of lies about me! None of it is true. NONE OF IT! I love my country. I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us.”
And further down the article, this reminder:
When the POWs began coming home in 1973, Fonda derided them as “liars, hypocrites, and pawns,” dismissing any charge that they had been brutalized: “Tortured men do not march smartly off planes, salute the flag, and kiss their wives. They are liars. I also want to say that these men are not heroes.”

“I have never shied away from talking about this as I have nothing to hide,” Fonda claims proudly in her Wrap editorial. Not true. Fonda’s own autobiography gives her Vietnam-era actions miniscule shrift, and, as with the POWs then and the QVC boycotters now, she simply brands anyone who haunts her with the truth as a liar.
Selective memory at its finest. The irony is that this "champion of the people" anti-capitalist is indignant because the QVC channel won't let her hawk her cheesy wares on their channel because of complaints from their audience.

To forgive may be divine, but it isn't Marine Corps/Navy/Army/Air Force policy. She made her bed, and now she doesn't want to sleep in it. Too bad.

Pick out the most mild-mannered VN vet you know, and ask him/her what they think of Jane Fonda.
Do this when you have some time on your hands.

Yep.

American citizen Iva Toguri D'Aquino, AKA "Tokyo Rose," is a close comparison. Of course, she actually was imprisoned for what she did. She was pardoned by President Ford in 1977.

Jane Fonda, in contrast, has enjoyed riches beyond measure in the years since the Vietnam War, has suffered no deprivations whatsoever, and has lived a life of pampered luxury all this time. She hasn't got a leg to stand on. Cry me a river for her stupid QVC rejection.

It always amuses me how often anti-capitalists are the already-wealthy
It's also usually those who didn't have to work hard for their money. There are many philanthropic people who earned every dime they have, but they often choose specific targets for their charity.

:iagree: I noticed that many years ago when I was in college. Many of the students that had wealthy parents who could afford to send them away to the university, were the most vocal about "the establishment".

You can protest.
You can speak for or against policy.
It is your right.

When you pose with the enemy, in an enemy nation, while we are at war and American soldiers are fighting and dieing, you are below contempt.

I was a married 24 year old fulltime Univ of Tenn college student with a pregnant (can you say that here) wife when I got my draft notice in 1966. There weren't then, and still aren't, any shortage of liars about the 10 year Viet Nam non-war. In addition to Fonda, do the names Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, MacNamara and Hoover, et al, ring any bells?

...the list's too short...it STILL hasn't been dealt with properly...our Vietnam Vets will not get the honor due in this life...most in the position to bestow it haven't got a clue...it's up to us to individually honor them every chance we get...while we still have them...find a way...

No matter what she says, no matter what she does her name will forever be associated with the pictures of her on that antiaircraft gun and she will be known as “Hanoi Jane”. All of her money cannot change that.

Long after she is dead, those pictures will live.

Her whole life will be distilled down to those pictures and that name.

I have no pity for her.
God Bless America, and please hurry.
