I'm glad the Congressman and his family are safe. I honestly do not know but I'm curious what Rep. Boswell said, if anything, about the Heller decision giving D.C. residents the capability to defend their homes as he was able to do?AndyC wrote:Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07 ... z1SVyDolmH" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;A home invasion at Rep. Leonard Boswell's Iowa farm ended when his 22-year-old grandson fetched a shotgun and aimed it at the intruder, according to a statement from the congressman's office. No one was seriously injured.
The incident started about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when an armed man came in through the front door, attacked Boswell's daughter, Cindy Brown, and demanded money, the statement said. Boswell, 77, heard his daughter's screams, came into the entryway and attempted to disarm the intruder.

Re: Iowa Congressman, Family Safe After Home Invasion
Decatur County Sheriff Herbert Muir says police are treating the case as a home invasion. He declined to say if they have suspects.
"Right now we don't know what he was trying to do," Muir said of the invader.
Muir said police generally advise those confronted with an armed intruder to cooperate, but said Boswell's decision to assault the man turned out fine.
"We tell a person to cooperate, but every situation is different," said Muir. "Nobody was hurt, nobody got shot. What I can say is he must have gone in the right direction."

"I grew up with guns," said Boswell. "That's an individual decision. I've decided to have guns in the house."

Leno mentioned this event last night, he said that the intruder got away when someone yelled, "Stop, thief!" and everyone grabbed the Congressman...

Truly repugnant "advice" when it is so broadly stated. Someone in another thread mentioned the Fran Drescher home invasion. "Cooperation" with the armed intruder meant two women being raped, one in front of her husband. But then I guess that's just one of those "liberal values." Also disgusting is characterizing self-defense as assault.i8godzilla wrote:Muir said police generally advise those confronted with an armed intruder to cooperate, but said Boswell's decision to assault the man turned out fine.

Yep, I was going to quote GB as perhaps the primary example of what to abhor and avoid. It is probably the worst country in Europe when it comes to the right of a person to defend himself --and one of the worst in the world.

I received an email today that spouted on the congressman as being a fellow you don't want on your side when it comes to defending the 2nd Amendment. It was from one of the Iowa pro-arms rights groups.
That said, I hope they catch the BG and the BB gun he was reported to have.

...haven't heard anything but the link here...if it was a BB gun, that part would be discovered when they pried it from his cold, dead hand...bust in my house and the gun doesn't matter...we don't play like that...we'll prolly never get the whole story...it'll be told late at night over a cuppa and a glazed donut...
