What is the difference between this proposed DOD default on promises to military enlistees and the proposed default/s on the promised Social Security returns that we Senior Citizens were promised via FORCED/MANDATORY deductions from our paychecks over our 40-50 year entire working lives?
Both of the above defaults go directly back to the halls of Congress - on BOTH sides of the aisle.
TERM LIMITS are needed now more than ever! just sayin'...

Well said.bronco78 wrote:The LIE, is simple.. The Government made a commitment to the soldier, in exchange for 20 plus years of service, away from home and family often, deployments to any conflict so named, required to uproot family on a moments notice, and to receive pay and living conditions sub par to what a comparable trained, life long employee in senior management or CEO level might receive in compensation... at the end of those 20 plus years a retirement package was promised. That Promise is being recommended by DOD committeemen to be broken.. That sir, makes it a Lie. Defended by some here, as fair and appropriate. As is there right.. A right, hard earned, not by them, but by those that chose to defend a nation, in years past, present, but likely, not in the future.
Unlike other compensation (Social Security, Medicare) this compensation wasn't paid for with dollars. I earned my retirement through blood, sweat and hardship. Those on active duty now have certainly paid their dues over the last several years. If the government wishes to change the rules for future generation--fine, but they need to honor the commitments made to those who currently serve.

In specific, Military members have paid in to both.. one in the same percentages of cash from the paycheck, the other with blood, time, and heavy heart for each of my soldiers I've buried.

The system needs to be fixed but nobody wants it to start with them. So reform is delayed again and again, until reasonable reform is no longer an option and extreme measures are necessary.
