The leftists' answer to everything seems to be another tax or another abridgement of freedom. Reality contact is totally absent from their proposals.

Since they listen only to each other, they have no clue how far out they are from the true mainstream America.

At this point it looks like most of them can only be contacted on the intergalactic frequencies.

Now now guys, let's be statesmen and try to offer a bipartisan compromise that still retains the spirit of this man's proposal ...

A $1 per bullet tax on all ammunition purchased in the city limits that is INTENDED TO BE USED FOR CRIME!

That way, his stated reason for this tax increase - to "increase the cost of committing crime" is realized without harming the 2A rights of us law-abiding citizens.

See, there's a compromise solution to even the nuttiest proposal if we all just work together

The city could require criminals to carry a criminal identification card (provided for a fee, of course) that would be presented at time of purchase to qualify for the tax.

All the honest criminals would no doubt rush right out to get one.

I thought the same thing, however he does make a good point. If bullets were 1000 dollars a piece and someone had been shot 15 or so time you know he probably really messed up.

This totally ignore those bullets stolen when a gun is stolen.

For revenue from those, they need a $1 tax on all stolen bullets, and $2 tax for empty fired casings every time a criminal is arrested with a firearm.... that should fix it

Catonsville MD city hall is about 8.8 miles from Baltimore city hall. I predict that ammo sales in Catonsville will become brisk. That means that if I really wanted to kill someone with a gun and I was flat out of ammo, I'd have to postpone the pleasure by about 35-40 minutes while I went and got some—probably a delay of 10 minutes over how long it would have taken if I could buy it in Baltimore.

Not much of a deterrent............but then, east coast race-baiting commie mayors have never been all that smart.

5 years later, they'd carve out an exception so it's only 50 cent tax for rubber bullets; thereby complicating their tax code
