Some forums/subforums not in active topics?

Post by apostate »

Instead of clicking on every forum/subforum, I typically use the "View active topics" to see the current active conversations. However, it looks like discussions in some forums/subforums don't show up as active topics, even though there were posts today. Is this happening to anyone else?

Occasionally I will be the OP on a thread, but it won't show up in "active topics".

If I search under "my posts" it will.

A few times I have notified the moderators of these glitches, but I don't know if they
have ever been able to ID why this happens sometimes.

Interesting, I hope a moderator reads this, looks into it and replies because I have the "active topics" as my bookmark. I usually look over for anything new in active topics, or new pages on threads I like. :shock:

Thanks mods in advance. This site i!s my daily read!

i always "Check New Posts"
search.php?search_id=newposts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Took me a year to learn that New Post thing, saves a lot of time, I may be slow, but I get there

I check "View Your Posts" and "View New Posts" and find everything I want to see in one place or the other.

It seems that "View New Posts" and "View Unread Posts" do essentially the same thing....I think.

The difference is the unread posts will only show you things you have not read, the new posts will show you anything new if you have read it already or not.

The option has to be set for each section to show in the Active Topics area. Only the admin can validate that they are set for all. It also may have been set by intent that only some of the sections are set for active topics.

Best bet is as others stated, to use the View Unread Posts or View New Posts and that way you see all new posts and not just select sections. That will also help you see new topics and potentially prevent duplicate topic discussions from being started in different sections.
