LCR is a fantastic firearm
I picked one up out of need for the instructor course - shopped around looking and getting my hands on several snubbies before purchase (SW, Charter Arms, Taurus, other Rugers). Out of the ones I looked at the LCR grip was the most comfortable and the weight was just right for pocket carry (IMHO).
If the Sp101 came standard with the same grip I would have picked it up but it did not. Also not sure if the sp101 weight would have been friendly to pocket carry.
Shooting whitebox jhp 38+p I am able to center punch at 3/7/15 yards with no issues.
A buddy of mine who took the class at the same time needed to borrow my LCR for the test - never shot it before - dislikes revolvers like no other - and was able to punch the 9-10 ring from 3/7/15 yards.
It has been my bug ever since my first 200 round range trip with it.
Best of luck.
Be Safe,
Doc

Re: Snubby Pockey Carry Realistic?
Well, to be honest, I just drop a speedloader into the other pocket—gun in left pocket, speedloader in right pocket. It's probably not the best way to do it, but I reach into my pocket once in a while (when I think of it) to make sure that the rounds haven't fallen out of the speedloader. That actually happened to me once.....I just made sure nobody was looking and I was standing where nobody could see, and I fished the cartridges out of my pocket and put them back in the speedloader and re-pocketed it. There are probably better ways of carrying it, but that's what I do, and other than that one time, it has worked fine for me.snatchel wrote:Thanks TAM. Yeah, I looked at the M&P pretty extensively, but its a little (bout 300 dollars) out of my price range at the moment LOL. I've managed to scrap together somewhere in the neighborhood of about $550, and want to make sure that I get CT along with the pistol.... so the M&P is out until I graduate.
One other thing, TAM. How do you carry the speed loaders? I am set on buying one speed loader to try it out, and a few speed strips because I will probably end up using them.
For anyone who is curious as to how I saved the money, this is how. I live about 2 miles from ASU, and rather than taking my car to school I have been riding my bicycle. Takes about 15 minutes, and some days, especially coming home around 3, it gets REALLY hot-but its not too awefully bad. I have filled my little Chevy Cruze up 3 times since April. Not bad eh? My wife has been doing the same thing I have, and her corolla has only been filled once. She doesnt have to drive to work though.

I basically planned on the same thing. If im wearing cargo shorts, extra glock mag goes in the left cargo pocket-just let it float around in there. If in pants or shorts with no cargo pocket, it goes in my right hip pocket. Guess Ill be doing the same with speed strips/loader.

I pocket carried a kHAR9 and two extra mags in the other pocket to help even out the wait. The bgest problem I had was getting used to that much gear in my pockets and I was always worried about the gun dropping out of my pocket when I sat down in chairs or booths at resturants. I went back to iwb wear.
Re: Snubby Pockey Carry Realistic?
Not sure if you have fulfilled your snubby needs yet...but if you have not, go on down to the gun show. Wife and I went to the Mesquite Rodeo Show this past weekend and found TWO dealers that were selling the S&W Bodyguard .38 Special +P (this has a laser!) for right at $399-405. I bought mine a year ago for $479 at Academy and that was a pretty good price at the time (vs. $550 or so at other well-known "outdoor" stores). After carrying it for a year, NO regrets!
