WTB approx 1 lb of lead shot locally DFW

Post by orionengnr »

Okay, I keep reading threads about making your own snakeshot with .45LC, and I'd like to give it a try. I figure one pound of #9, 10 or 11 shot would give me about 50 cartridges. So (unless) I get reallly crazy about this) I don't really want to buy a 25# bag of shot.

If you have a pound of shot for sale at a reasonable price, and live close to Bass Pro Grapevine? Or maybe you are planning to go to the gun show at Market Hall next Saturday morning?

If you need such a small amount of shot why not buy a cheap box of "dove loads" and cut the shot out of the shells? You should get a little over a pound out of a box of 25 12 gauge. Take the "blanks" that you procuce and run them through a shotgun to dispose of the powder and primers.

I have some lead shot, but it's at my shop in Azle. I'll probably be going out there sometime this weekend.
Not sure what size it is, except "small".

Thanks to all who responded. This morning a local gentleman delivered a pound or so of #9 shot. I will still be looking for some #11 shells at the gun show tomorrow. Neither Bass Pro nor Cabelas has anything smaller than #9.So I'm set, or nearly so.

Rex B--
If what yu have is #11, I wil be interested (I'm not counting on finding any tomorrow, but I have some hope...)

Speed Six--
Snake medicine is exactly what I am making. And I'd rather make them than buy them. See here:

I suspect what I have is a bit larger that 11. Looks like normal birdshot to me, probably what you already have.

Looked all over Dallas Market Hall yesterday. Not a single box of shotgun shells with #11 shot.
Found one with #12, but he wanted $15 for them. I didn't want them that badly...

I don't know the shot size number, but it is .150" in diameter. Its in a canvas sack that originally held 25 lbs. The sack has tipped over a couple of times and the shot was too dang small, and numerous to pick up. It was swept out the door. Trade you for some .45 Colt loads

What you don't use, you can always pour it into a sock for an improvised cosh.
