TTU wants to do "everything" possible to protect students

“We need to make sure we do everything possible for the protection of our students,” Hance said, “not only on campus but also off campus.”
Yet another administration wants to do everything possible to protect their students.....
Chancellor Kent Hance and President Guy Bailey said they are planning on implementing a special task force this fall to determine what can be done to help ensure students are educated about off-campus crime.
Well thats an easy one, let your students protect themselves.
The concern for students’ safety is stemming from an article published in Thursday’s issue of The Daily Toreador. Hance said he was not aware of the high crime rates until reading the article.
I knew there was a reason I didn't like him when I was there.

Anyways, GO RED RAIDERS!!! :fire

How about calling Perry and asking for a Special Session to pass Campus Carry.

That would be a lot better than talking for two years and hoping that crime on Campus goes down during that time! :banghead:

They just refuse to understand that an armed society is a safer and generally more polite society.

How can anybody be "smart" enough to become the chancellor of a major university, and still be oblivious enough to not be aware of the world which surrounds the campus? That's the first question........Then, the second question is, other than assigning an armed guard to each of his students, how does he propose to ensure their safety off-campus?

This continuing refrain of liberal hand-wringing is getting REALLY annoying, particularly when the answers are right there in front of their faces. They just want to squeeze their eyes shut, stick their fingers in their ears, and shout "la la la la la la la la la...." until it all goes away. In the meantime, grownups understand that individuals are responsible for their own safety. Even the Supreme Court says so (Gonzales v. Castle Rock). No amount of interference by the university to restrict the rights of students, on or off campus, is going to advance their safety one iota. There are thousands upon thousands of 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 year old Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan who give the lie to the notion that young people cannot be trusted with guns.

The "children" here are the feckless administrators who get in the way of personal freedom, not the young adults supposedly in their charge.

I hate to say this but I feel it coming.........
I see a bad thing happening in Texas within the next 2 years similar to VT.

The way the economy is going, going, gone downhill, along with the political climate, the "nut jobs" will be out in force.

I hope it does not happen, but I have a bad feeling that it will.
A serious mistake was made during our last Legislative Session and I am afraid the Legislators will realize their errors in the most drastic and unimaginable (in their views) way.
