I've been reading like crazy trying to learn from others on the CHL process and when/what order to take care of everything.
I've paid my application fee online and scheduled my fingerprinting for 9/26. I just scheduled the CHL course for 10/6 and they will do the photo's there.
I have to wait for a disposition to arrive (already fax'd off the request for certified copy to be mailed) but thinking that realistically it could be a month before I get that back (hopefully not, but since the arrest was 20+ years ago and not in their computer system when I called (probably stored in microfish, she said) so who knows...).
I was looking at one CHL course training site and they mention to not get your fingerprints done before class. Is there any reason why you would not want to do that - especially since they all have to be done electronically now. The site doesn't indicate that they have L1 on premise doing it for them, so not sure what the hangup would be. Anyway, just want to make sure that I'm not doing anything in the wrong order here...
Here's the site I was referring to: http://www.ctxpta.com/id3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: CHL Process - Order/Timing?
Maybe they're just overly concerned about people getting the prints done wrong. Perhaps they state that under the assumption that you will not submit your application until you take the class. But there is no sequence relation between taking the class and getting fingerprints, so you can get prints any time after your application is in the DPS system.

The L1/FAST requirement is still fairly new. Perhaps they want to prevent students from wasting time/money on rolled ink prints (or electronic prints from a different vendor) by mistake.
