Watauga pol urges CHL's carry/PD to teach shooting.

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Watauga pol urges CHL's carry/PD to teach shooting.

Watauga (say Wuh-tawg-uh) is a small city in Tarrant County (Fort Worth's county).

A new City Council member who is a CHL has tried to think out of the box. He has proposed that CHL's be allowed to
provide security by attending City Council meetings while armed.

He has also proposed that the Watauga PD teach citizens how to shoot, apparently in order to free up PD resources.

The above link is a short video and text story on this. An opponent of his suggests that the new Council Member is
"out in left field".

Sounds more right field to me.

While I am all for removing the restrictions in TPC 46.035(c), prohibiting carry at governmental meetings, from the video clip this guy doesn't look like he's the one to be spearheading this effort.

What are people's thoughts on having the PD hold shooting classes? Useful allocation of resources, or would this just undermine other professionals who make livings training and conducting CHL courses?
