We have those here--usually we eat hotdogs, cheeseburgers and barbequed chicken. And shock of all shocks no bloodshed does not break out and there are 0 shoot-outs. But no adult beverages obviously! :cheers2:

I like it, but, for some reason that whole thing has a nudist camp feel to it....

Well that just goes to show you how deeply ingrained the don't ask don't tell firearms policy is there in TX. Open carry (while not common in the eastern part of the state) is normal enough to not attract much attention. I like the option of open carry. After all it is not the guy open carrying that you have to worry about.

Someone indoctrinated to hide their religious beliefs would probably feel the same way about people openly wearing a yarmulke or hijab.

If OC becomes legal here, I imagine I would still mostly CC.(although having the option would be nice) The idea of a bunch lot us getting together for a open carry barbecue somewhere sounds pretty cool though. Fresh air, red meat, like-minded adults, and gun talk.

I fueled up and cleaned our windows at a very busy Flying J in Jerome, ID this morning. After getting back in the Ram, Mrs. Oldgringo said my Tee Shirt was up over my SA Compact 1911 for all the world to see...and it was.

If all of the world did see, they didn't care...

I've been to at least a dozen open carry events with Ohioans For Concealed Carry over the years.

They are a ton of fun. Not all of them are outdoors. Last Christmas season in Columbus, I was at the local chapter meet & greet at a local restaurant that had one of those "all you can eat" buffets. There were about 20 of us there plus spouses and kids, all open carrying. There were probably 200 people in the restaurant and we got no unusual attention from anyone. 90% of the sheeple are so far into condition white they don't even notice.

...being raised in an open carry state...I found that a man with a gun raised few eyebrows...however, a gun wearing a man did...and it doesn't take but a second or two to spot the difference...our old Commissioner said it well: "Boys, I'm going to be giving you a gun and a badge...if you're not a man when you pick it up.....putting it on won't make you one..." Folks that understand that philosophy don't draw much attention by open carrying...

About the nudist camp feel to it showing what you usually hide
In a nudist camp everyone feels the same way about being open
At an open carry picnic everyone feels the same way about showing guns
Sounds like a good idea. However; concealed carry has the advantage
of the Low Humans not knowing who is carrying
