Better Idea--Avoid NY all together. If you MUST go, carry a muggers wallet with a $20 in it and keep yours' hidden on an interior layer. Additionally if you MUST go--obviously tools are permitted a small screwdriver makes a great weapon too or a sharp pair of scissors. Be armed in some manner.

I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
