Eh, in general, yeah, but I've got a friend with huge back child-support bills because of an unlucky combination of being trusting to a fault, a vindictive ex, and co-owning a company with a somewhat crooked business partner for several years. I can't remember all the details, but I think the gist of it was that he was being assessed something on the order of $500/month in child support while he had an on the order of $100/month job.Oldgringo wrote:This may be a somewhat dated concept but responsible and deserving citizens do not have unpaid bills, child support, tickets, taxes, loans, etc.

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Thanks so much for the info. He told me today that he decided to just pay it off now. He is also going to his CHL class on Saturday. He call today and he did not half to pay as much as he thout.sjfcontrol wrote:Class C misdemeanors (traffic tickets) do not affect CHL eligibility. Even if the ticket went to warrant, all DPS would do is give him a "courtesy call" to inform him of the warrant, and the need to get it resolved, but it would not affect his eligibility.
But he should pay his tickets, or fight it in court.

Re: Unpaid parking ticket
Glad to here he did the correct thing. The life of carrying a weapon under a CHL is one of responsibility. People just have to be good eggs, or it is not all it is cracked up to be.

OG, I agree with your sentiment above. But - playing devil's advocate - some would question where "responsible and deserving" are written as prerequisites to 2A's RKBA, especially the "deserving" part.Oldgringo wrote:This may be a somewhat dated concept but responsible and deserving citizens do not have unpaid bills, child support, tickets, taxes, loans, etc.
Re: Unpaid parking ticket
Just for clarification
A Parking Ticket is not A class C Misdemeaner. It is a civil Charge.

Re: Unpaid parking ticket
Warrants can't be issued for unpaid parking tickets. They are tied to the license plate of the car not the person.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.
