So, I have a very specific question that I hope someone may know the answer to.. I understand that Arizona is a reciprical state with Texas. I know that if somone who is an Arizona resident and travels here with their Arizona Gun Permit/license that they can carry their gun in public places(assuming it's not expired and valid with AZ)
I totally understand the above, I just have a question on this scenario:
If someone moves here to Texas and becomes a Texas resident with a TX DL/ID card, but their Arizona gun permit hasn't expired yet and they become a "non-resident" Arizona Gun permit holder.(which I know Arizona allows) Would this person be arrested for unlawful carry?
The reason I ask, is that I've heard yes and no from several sources, some of which are LEO's and district attorneys. Just trying to clarify what the real true answer is to the above question?
Anyone who knows and is very certian, please respond. I'm dying of curiousity on this one.
thanks.

I can see where the LEO's might differ, but did the DA's agree or did they also give conflicting answers? If the DA's all agreed Id go with that answer.
How long would the AZ non-resident license be good? Do you have to get the address changed on your AZ license changed to match your TX DL? If not, that might be where the hang up is.
This all might be a moot point in two years if some of the funny stuff with a Texas resident having a non-resident licenses from another state keeps up. The legislature might decide to not recognize those.

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Perhaps the law will change in 2013, but for now, arresting a Texas resident carrying a handgun on a valid out of state license (with reciprocity) is akin to arresting a Texas resident who possesses Vicodin prescribed by an out of state physician.C-dub wrote:This all might be a moot point in two years if some of the funny stuff with a Texas resident having a non-resident licenses from another state keeps up.
