Failed Democrat Pol Sues Critics Over Election Loss

U.S. News & World Report
There's nothing quite like a politician scorned.

When voters in Ohio's 1st Congressional District threw Democrat Steve Driehaus out of office after only one term, he did not bow out gracefully. No, he decided to get even. So he did what anyone does in today's culture: he sued somebody.

Charging that its activities contributed to his defeat and thus to his "loss of livelihood," Driehaus is suing the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life candidates for Congress and which has been one of the leading and most effective organizations involved in the fight to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood.

{snip}

Driehaus's suit is breaking new legal ground and may already be having a very chilling effect on political speech. It goes directly at the heart of our First Amendment protections and criminalizes what is at least a difference of opinion. And it's curious that the case has not received more attention from the national press.

What is equally curious, however, is why Judge Black has allowed the case to move forward and why he did not recuse himself from it since, as Barbara Hollingsworth reported Friday in The Washington Examiner, he apparently is the former president and director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Cincinnati. As seeming conflicts of interest go this one is a real humdinger.
(emphasis in red is mine)

New lows from the democrat party: "You beat us fair and square in an election, and we'll sue you for loss of livelihood!" OH. MY. GOD!! Talk about a sense of entitlement. Somebody needs to beat that guy with a bat..........the judge too, for not being able to recuse himself from an obvious conflict of interest.

I have one question: How long can this kind of thing go on for? Do we not have laws in this nation? Is anyone with a D behind their name just allowed to do anything they want with no consequences and the rest of us have to shut up and color? I simply cannot convey in words how upset I am these days...its just too much. "These are the times that try men's souls".

It will go on as long as the democrat party keeps pushing the notion that getting money from the government, whether as a paid employee or a supported dependent, is an entitlement that everyone else is required to pay for.

If everyone who sees this for the anti-American grabage that it is will just get out and VOTE, I think the problem would go away overnight. Let the world see that VOTERS are not represented by the MSM... It's a fact, we saw it in the 2010 election... It just hasn't sunk in yet... We need to keep the pressure on and keep voting the rats off our ship.

Apparently suing people who disagree with you politically is the way modern day politics work. The mayor of El Paso, John Cook, is currently suing a group of pastors who organized a recall election against him and a couple of council members after they threw out a voter's referendum which denied health insurance to the "domestic partners" of city employees. Seems this is the way things are done in America now. I don't think this is what our founding fathers intended, but I have been told that I my opinions are outdated and irrelevant in modern society.
